Course Creation & Authoring

A course on Blend-ed is a structured collection of lessons and activities that learners work through to build a skill or complete a program.

This section covers everything involved in building a course: creating it, structuring it, adding content, setting up grading and certificates, and grouping it into programs or learning paths.

Two ways to create a course

Manual creation — you build the course from scratch: set up the course details, then add sections, subsections, units, and content yourself.

  • Best for: full control over structure and content, and courses you’re building from your own material as you go.

AI Studio — describe the course you want, optionally attaching a source document (PDF, DOCX, or PPTX). Blend-ed AI guides you through a short setup conversation, then generates a full course outline and content for you to review, edit, and approve.

  • Best for: getting a complete draft course built quickly, whether you’re starting from an idea or from material you already have.

AI Studio with MCP — connect Blend-ed to the systems where your organisation’s knowledge already lives, and the AI builds courses grounded in that material rather than in general knowledge. The result is a course that reflects your actual products, processes, and terminology, without you assembling source documents by hand first.

  • Best for: courses that must match how your organisation really does things, and for teams whose reference material is spread across several systems.

Tip: You can always add to or edit a generated course manually afterward. The three paths aren’t mutually exclusive, and most teams end up using more than one.

Note: Setting up MCP connections is covered in Platform Setup, Branding & Integrations.
